The Department of Health (DOH) confirmed on Tuesday 1,678 more coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections, raising the nationwide tally to 83,673.
This marks the 14th consecutive day where new Covid-19 cases reported were beyond the 1,300 mark.
The top five provinces with the highest number of new Covid-19 cases are Metro Manila with 698, Laguna with 218, Cebu with 100, Cavite with 87, and Davao del Sur with 33.
Currently, there are 55,109 active Covid-19 cases undergoing medical treatment or quarantine: 90.2 percent are mild, 8.9 percent are asymptomatic, 0.5 percent are severe, and 0.4 percent are in critical condition.
The country’s recovery rate jumped to 26,617 after the DOH confirmed 173 more patients winning the fight against the disease.
Death toll, on the other hand, slowed down with 4 new fatalities, inching the tally to 1,947.
The Philippines remains on top in Southeast Asia for the most number of Covid-19 “active” cases followed by Indonesia with 36,611 active cases. (RJ Espartinez)
