The Department of Health (DOH) confirmed Monday 1,521 new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections, increasing the nationwide tally to 68,898.
The breakdown of the new cases are as follows: 1,209 are “fresh” or newly validated cases and 312 are late cases.
The top five Covid-19 hotspots in the country were recorded in Metro Manila with 1,237, Cavite with 51, Laguna with 51, Rizal with 34, and Davao del Sur with 22.
Currently, there are 43,991 active cases undergoing medical treatment or under quarantine: 90.6 percent are mild, 8.5 percent are asymptomatic, 0.4 percent are severe, and 0.5 percent are in critical condition.
The country posted an impressive 607 recoveries today, increasing the tally of Covid-19 survivors to 23,072. Death toll, on the other hand, inches to 1,835 with four new fatalities.
The Philippines is still on top in Southeast Asia for the most number of “active” Covid-19 cases. Indonesia sits on the 2nd spot with 36,998. (RJ Espartinez)
