The Philippines coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) tally leaped to 376,935 after the Department of Health (DOH) announced on Thursday 1,761 new infections with nine Covid-19 laboratories failing to submit their data on time. 

Bulk of the new cases came from Quezon City with 85; Rizal with 74; Caloocan City with 73; Davao City with 70; and Laguna with 69.

Currently, 39,940 remaining active Covid-19 cases are undergoing treatment or quarantine: 83.3 percent are mild, 10.9 percent are asymptomatic, 2.1 percent are severe, and 3.7 percent are in critical condition.

The country’s recovery rate increased to 329,848 with 740 more patients winning the fight against the deadly respiratory illness. 

Death toll stands at 7,147 with 33 new fatalities: 26 occurred in October, three in September, three in August, and one in July.

The Philippines remains on the 20th spot in the world for the most number of new Covid-19 cases, still trailing behind neighbor Indonesia’s 404,048 cases. RJ Espartinez
