The Philippines logged 4,226 new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections, raising the nationwide tally to 126,885, the Department of Health (DOH) announced Saturday.
The Philippines ranks 22 in the world for the most number of Covid-19 cases — the highest in Southeast Asia followed by Indonesia with 123,503 infections.
The top five areas in the country with the most number of new Covid-19 cases are the National Capital Region with 2,669; Laguna with 285; Cavite with 154; Cebu with 125; and Rizal with 118.
Currently, there are 57,559 active Covid-19 cases undergoing medical treatment or quarantine: 91.4% are mild, 7.3% are asymptomatic, 0.7% are severe, and 0.6% are in critical condition.
The country’s recovery rate also increased to 67,117 after the DOH announced an impressive 287 more patients winning the fight against the respiratory illness.
Death toll, on the other hand, elevated to 2,209 with 41 more fatalities. RJ Espartinez
