The Philippines’ caseload for the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) exceeded the 400,000 mark after the Department of Health (DOH) announced on Wednesday 1,672 new infections. 

Nationwide tally stands at 401,416. 

Bulk of the new infections came from Cavite with 100; Davao City with 99; Quezon City with 81; Batangas with 78; and Baguio City with 70.

Currently, 31,489 active Covid-19 cases are undergoing treatment or quarantine: 83.3% are mild, 9.4% are asymptomatic, 2.5% are severe, and 4.6% are in critical condition.

The country’s recovery rate now stands at 362,217 with 311 more patients winning the fight against the deadly respiratory illness. 

Death toll, on the other hand, stands at 7,710 with 49 new fatalities.

The DOH said eight Covid-19 laboratories failed to submit their daily reports on time.
