The Philippines on Monday started the rollout of booster shots to senior citizens and immunocompromised individuals.

The first phase of the country’s booster shot distribution will benefit over eight million individuals each from the A2 and A3 categories.

The country’s health category has listed the following as those in the immunocompromised state eligible for booster shots: 

  • immunodeficiency state
  • HIV
  • active cancer or malignancy
  • transplant recipients
  • patients under immunosuppressives

Individuals under the A2 and A3 categories are eligible for either homologous or heterologous doses.

The following are the vaccine brands for heterologous booster shots:

  • Sinovac (primary series) — AstraZeneca, Pfizer, Moderna (booster)
  • AstraZeneca (primary series) — Pfizer, Moderna (booster)
  • Pfizer (primary series) — AstraZeneca, Moderna (booster)
  • Moderna (primary series) — AstraZeneca, Pfizer (booster)
  • Gamaleya (primary series) — Pfizer, AstraZeneca, Moderna (booster)
  • Janssen (primary series) — AstraZeneca, Pfizer, Moderna (booster)

The country has allocated P45 billion for the procurement of booster shots against Covid-19.
