The Philippines’ coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) tally leaped to 319,330 after the Department of Health (DOH) announced on Saturday 2,674 new infections.

This marks the fifth consecutive day where new cases reported did not exceed the 3,000 mark.

Bulk of the new cases still came from Metro Manila, the epicenter of the pandemic, with 1,046; followed by Cavite with 257; Rizal with 165; Batangas with 137; and Laguna with 121.

Currently, 58,606 active Covid-19 cases are undergoing medical treatment or quarantine: 87.1 percent are mild, 8.8. percent are asymptomatic, 1.2 percent are severe, and 2.8 percent are in critical condition.

The country’s recovery rate has increased to 255,046 after the DOH posted 459 more patients winning the fight against the respiratory illness. 

Death toll, on the other hand , stands at 5,678 with 62 new fatalities.
