The Philippines reported a new all-time high of 10,016 new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections, pushing the nationwide tally to 731,894.

The Philippines leads Southeast Asia in registering the highest number of cases in a single day.

Amid the surge, the Department of Health (DOH) announced that three Covid-19 laboratories failed to submit their daily reports on time.

Currently, there are 115,495 active Covid-19 cases undergoing medical treatment or quarantine: 95.9% are mild, 2.4% are asymptomatic, 0.7% are critical, and 0.7% are in severe condition.

The country’s recovery rate increased to 603,213 with 78 more patients winning the fight against the deadly respiratory illness.

Death toll, on the other hand, inches to 13,186 with 16 new fatalities.

The DOH reported that it removed 14 duplicates from the nationwide case count. Eleven cases previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation. Ronald dela Cruz
