The Philippines posted a new record-high 9,838 coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections, pushing the nationwide tally to 702,856.

With this, the country’s active Covid-19 cases spiked to 109,018, the highest number recorded this year. 

Among the number, 95.1% are mild, 3% are asymptomatic, 0.8% are severe, and 0.7% are in critical condition.

Meanwhile, the country’s recovery rate increased to 580,689 with 663 more patients beating the deadly respiratory illness.

Death toll, on the other hand, inches to 13,149 with 54 new fatalities.

The DOH said that twenty-nine duplicate cases were deducted from the total case count while 22 cases that were earlier declared as recovered were reclassified as deaths after final validation.

This latest report makes the Philippines with the second highest number of total cases, number of deaths and active cases in the Asean region.  Indonesia continues to post the highest number of new cases, total cases, number of deaths and active cases in the region. Ronald dela Cruz
