The Philippines reported 9,296 new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections, pushing the nationwide tally to 741,181.

According to the Department of Health (DOH), nine Covid-19 laboratories failed to submit their daily reports on time. 

The Philippines has the highest number of new cases reported in Southeast Asia.

This marks the fifth consecutive day where new cases reported exceeded the 9,000 mark.

Currently, there are 124,680 active Covid-19 infections, this year’s highest.

Among the number, 96% are mild, 2.3% are asymptomatic, 0.7% are severe, and 0.6% are in critical condition.

Meanwhile, the country’s recovery rate increased to 603,310 with 103 more patients winning the fight against the deadly respiratory illness.

Death toll, on the other hand, inches to 13,191 with five new fatalities.

The DOH also announced that it successfully removed nine duplicate cases from the nationwide count while one case that was previously tagged as recovered was reclassified as a fatality. Ronald dela Cruz
