The Philippines logged 92,343 dengue cases from January 1 to July 23, 2022, the Department of Health (DOH) said.
The total number is 118% higher compared to the cases posted during the same period last year.
The DOH’s National Dengue Data for the week showed 42,294 dengue cases posted from January 1 to July 23, 2021.
Central Luzon posted the most cases this year with 15,951 or 17%; followed by Central Visayas with 9,429 (10%); and the National Capital Region (NCR) with 7,962 (9%).
The DOH said the country posted 21,566 dengue cases from June 26 to July 23 alone.
Among the said number, 24% or 5,186 cases came from Central Luzon; followed by NCR with 2,374 (11%); and Calabarzon with 2,178 (10%).
The health department announced that nine out of 17 regions surpassed the epidemic threshold in the past four weeks. Mimaropa and NCR showed a “sustained increasing trend from June 26 to July 23, 2022.”
Meanwhile, 344 or 0.4% people have died due to dengue.
