The Philippines reported 9,216 new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections, pushing the nationwide tally to 828,366. 

Amid the spike, the Department of Health (DOH) announced that five Covid-19 laboratories failed to submit their daily reports on time.

Currently, there are 167,279 active Covid-19 infections, this year’s highest. 

The country’s recovery rate increased to 645,968 with 598 more patients winning the fight against the deadly respiratory illness.

Death toll, on the other hand, is now at 14,119 with 60 new fatalities.

The DOH also announced that it successfully removed 14 duplicate reports, including six recoveries, from the nationwide case count. Meanwhile, 28 cases that were initially reported as recoveries are now declared as deaths after validation. Ronald dela Cruz
