The Philippines posted 8,748 new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections, raising the nationwide count to 1,209,154.
The Department of Health (DOH) said four Covid-19 laboratories failed to submit their daily reports on time.
Today’s number was the first time in 25 days that the country posted more than 8,000 cases in a single day.
Currently, there are 53,770 active Covid-19 infections undergoing medical treatment and quarantine: 93.2% are mild, 2.2% are asymptomatic, 1.8% are severe, and 1.4% are in critical condition.
Meanwhile, the country’s recovery rate increased to 1,134,818 with 3,017 more patients winning the fight against the deadly respiratory illness.
Death toll, on the other hand, stands at 20,566 with 187 new fatalities.
The DOH also announced that it successfully removed 24 duplicate cases from the nationwide count.
“Moreover, 122 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation,” the DOH said. Ronald Espartinez
