The Philippines on Friday reported 8,564 new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections, pushing the nationwide tally to 3,594,002.
The Department of Health (DOH) said all Covid-19 laboratories were functional since February 2, but six laboratories failed to submit their reports on time.
Among the new cases reported, 6,560 or 77% of new cases happened within January 22 to February 4, 2022.
The National Capital Region (NCR) topped the regions with the most number of cases in the recent two weeks at 907 or 14% of new cases reported; followed by Region 6 with 782 or 12%; and Region 11 with 753 or 11%.
Currently, there are 151,389 active Covid-19 infections undergoing medical treatment: 6,522 are asymptomatic; 139,940 are mild; 3,107 are moderate; 1,500 are severe; and 320 are in critical condition.
Meanwhile, the country’s recovery rate increased to 3,388,399 with 10,474 more patients winning the fight against the deadly respiratory illness.
Death toll, on the other hand, climbed to 54,214 with 46 new fatalities.
The DOH confirmed that it removed 23 duplicates from the total count. Among the said number, 14 are recoveries. Ronald Espartinez
