The Philippines reported 8,276 new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections, the Department of Health (DOH) reported Thursday.

This brings the nationwide count to 1,028,738.

The top five regions with the highest number of Covid-19 infections are: National Capital Region with 450,892; followed by CALABARZON with 178,363; Central Luzon with 83,098; Central Visayas with 58,529; and lastly, Western Visayas with 37,653.

The country’s active Covid-19 infections stand 69,354; 94.9% are mild, 1.6% are asymptomatic, 1.4% are severe, and 1.1% are in critical cases.

Meanwhile, the country’s recovery rate climbed to 942,239 with 6,636 more patients winning the fight against the deadly respiratory illness.
