The Philippines reported 6,784 new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases Friday, May 14, pushing the nationwide tally to 1,131,467.

According to the Department of Health (DOH), five Covid-19 laboratories failed to submit their daily reports on time. 

Currently, there are 58,986 active Covid-19 infections undergoing medical treatment and quarantine: 93.5% are mild, 2.3% are asymptomatic, 1.8% are severe, and 1.3% are in critical condition.

Meanwhile, the country’s recovery rate increased to 1,053,523 with 2,972 more patients winning the fight against the deadly respiratory illness.

Death toll, on the other hand, climbed to 18,958 with 137 new fatalities. 

The DOH also announced that it successfully removed 41 duplicate cases from the nationwide tally.

“Moreover, 71 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation,” the DOH said. Ronald dela Cruz
