The Philippines reported on Friday 6,258 new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections, pushing the nationwide tally to 1,171,403.

According to the Department of Health (DOH), five Covid-19 laboratories failed to submit their daily reports on time. 

Currently, there are 55,531 active Covid-19 cases undergoing medical treatment and quarantine: 93.5% are mild cases, 2 % are asymptomatic, 1.8% are severe, and 1.4% are in critical condition.

The country’s recovery rate climbed to 1,096,109 with 2,586 more patients winning the fight against the deadly respiratory illness.

Death toll, on the other hand, stands at 19,763 with 141 new fatalities.

The DOH also announced that it successfully removed ten duplicate cases from the nationwide count while 18 cases previously declared as deaths were reclassified as recoveries. Lastly, 74 cases tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths. Ronald Espartinez
