The Philippines posted 607 new coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) infections, bringing its total number to 25,392, the Department of Health (DOH) announced Saturday. 

504 of the new cases are “fresh” or newly validated: 246 came from the National Capital Region, 85 came from Region VII, and 173 came from other areas.

103 of the new cases are late: 42 came from the National Capital Region and 61 came from other locations across the country.

In a bit of good news, recoveries increased to 5,706 with 252 more patients winning the fight against COVID-19. Death toll, on the other hand, jumped to 1,074 after 22 new deaths were recorded, the highest number of fatalities recorded in a day since May 12. 

Singapore remains on top for the most number of COVID-19 cases in Southeast Asia at 40,197. Indonesia closely behind with 37,420 trailed by the Philippines.
