The Philippines reported 543 new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections, pushing the nationwide tally to 2,835,145.

The Department of Health (DOH) also confirmed that five Covid-19 laboratories failed to submit their reports on time, while two laboratories were not working on December 4. 

Currently, there are 13,548 active Covid-19 infections undergoing medical treatment and/or quarantine.

Meanwhile, the country’s recovery rate increased to 2,772,107 with 803 more patients winning the fight against the deadly respiratory illness.

Death toll, on the other hand, climbed to 49,499 with 113 new fatalities. 

The health department explained that out of the new fatalities, 14 happened in December 2021 while 21% of it came from November 2021. 

“This issue is currently being coordinated with the Epidemiology and Surveillance Units to ensure information is up to date,” it also said.

The DOH also reported that 12 duplicates, including 10 recoveries, were removed from the nationwide count as well as the 152 infections that tested negative after validation. Ronald Espartinez
