The Philippines tallied 5,177 new coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases, the Department of Health (DOH) reported Tuesday.

This brings the nationwide count to 1,235,467.

According to the DOH, 10 laboratories failed to submit their daily report on time.

The country’s active Covid-19 infections slightly decreased to 53,293; 93.1% are mild, 2.3% are asymptomatic, 1.8% are severe, and 1.4% are in critical cases.

Meanwhile, the country’s recovery rate climbed to 1,161,252 with 6,230 more patients winning the fight against the deadly respiratory illness.

Death toll, on the other hand, inches to 21,012 with 46 new fatalities.

The DOH also confirmed that they successfully removed duplicate cases from the nationwide tally, while 15 cases previously declared as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after verification. Ronald Espartinez
