The Philippines logged 51,622 cases of Dengue from January 1 to June 18, according to the Department of Health (DOH).
The tally was 58% higher compared to dengue cases reported during the same timeframe last year at 32,610.
The health department shared that Central Luzon posted the highest number of infections at 13%; followed by Central Visayas at 12%; and the Zamboanga Peninsula at 9%.
Around 13,075 infections were recorded from May 8 to June 18, most of them came from Central Luzon, Central Visayas, and the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR).
Mimaropa, Western Visayas, Central Visayas, the Zamboanga Peninsula, the Davao Region, the Bangsamoro Region, and CAR logged an increase of infections in the recent week.
The DOH said the country recorded 239 deaths due to dengue for the period. Among the said number, 40 happened in January; 37 in February; 34 in March; 47 in April; 62 in May; and 19 in June.
The health department advised the public to implement the 4S strategies, such as to search and destroy breeding places, secure self-protection, seek early consultation, and support fogging/spraying in hotspot areas.
