The Philippines reported Friday 4,578 new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections, raising the nationwide tally to 611,618.

This is the highest single-day new cases reported since September 2020.

The Philippines’ caseload for the day is the second highest in Asia.  Indonesia reported 6,412 new cases.

According to the Department of Health’s latest report, five Covid-19 laboratories failed to submit their reports on time. 

Currently, active cases rose to 52,012, the highest rate this year.

Among the active cases, 92.2 percent are mild, 4.1 percent are asymptomatic, 1.5 percent are severe, and 1.5 percent are in critical condition.

 

The country’s recovery rate increased to 546,912 with 272 more patients winning the fight against the deadly respiratory illness.

Death toll, on the other hand, climbs to 12,694 with 87 new fatalities.
