The Philippines reported Friday 32,744 new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections, pushing the nationwide tally to 3,357,083. 

The Department of Health (DOH) said all Covid-19 laboratories were functional on January 19, but three labs failed to submit their reports on time. 

The DOH said among the new cases today, 31,456 or 96% of cases happened from January 8 to 21.

The National Capital Region (NCR) topped the regions in the country with the highest count in the recent two weeks at 6,917 or 22% of cases; followed by Region 4-A with 6,398 or 20%; and Region 3 with 4,122 or 13%.

Currently, there are 291,618 active Covid-19 infections undergoing medical treatment: 9,015 are asymptomatic, 277,833 are mild, 2,979 are moderate, 1,487 are severe, and 304 are in critical condition.

Meanwhile, the country’s recovery rate crossed the 3,000,000 mark after 16,385 more patients defeated the respiratory illness. Recovery count stands at 3,012,156.

Death toll, on the other hand, inches to 53,309 with 156 new fatalities.

The DOH said that it removed 139 duplicates from the nationwide count. Ronald Espartinez
