The Philippines recorded 28,008 new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections from August 8 to August 14, the Department of Health (DOH) said. 

According to the DOH’s Covid-19 case bulletin, the number is 3% higher compared to the cases recorded from August 1 to August 7 with 27,331 infections. 

From the previous week’s 3,904, the daily average is also up to 4,001.

Meanwhile, the country also verified 229 additional fatalities. Among the said number, 98 happened in August, 129 in July, one in June, and one in September 2021.

The DOH also reported that the Philippines has so far vaccinated 72,107,090 individuals or 92.33% of the government’s inoculation target population.  

Among the said number, 208,369 were vaccinated from August 8 to August 14.
