The Department of Health (DOH) announced on Sunday 2,442 new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections in the Philippines, raising the nationwide tally to 396,395.

According to the DOH’s latest report, 13 Covid-19 laboratories failed to submit their daily report on time. 

Majority of the new cases came from Rizal with 138; the City of Manila with 131; Benguet with 130; Batangas with 113; and Bulacan with 112.

Currently, the remaining 27,218 active Covid-19 cases are undergoing treatment or quarantine: 82 percent are mild, 9.6 percent are asymptomatic, 3.1 percent are severe, and 5.4 percent are in critical condition.

 

 

The country’s recovery rate is now up to 361,638 with 11,430 more patients winning the fight against the deadly disease.  

Death toll, on the other hand, stands at 7,539 with 54 new fatalities: 39 died this month.

“Moreover, five cases previously tagged as recovered were reclassified as deaths,” the DOH added.

The Philippines ranks 6th in the world for the most number of new Covid-19 cases. Russia tops the world for the most number of infections at 20,498, raising the country’s tally to 1,774,334. RJ Espartinez
