The Philippines on Tuesday reported 2,010 new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections, the lowest daily count this year, pushing the nationwide tally to 3,641,940.
The Department of Health (DOH) said all Covid-19 laboratories were functional since February 13, but five labs failed to submit their reports on time.
Among the new cases reported today, 1,570 or 78% of new cases happened within the recent 14 days from February 2 to February 15, 2022.
The National Capital Region (NCR) topped the regions with the most number of new cases at 238 or 15%; followed by Region 4-A with 183 or 12%; and Region 6 with 159 or 10%,
Currently, there are 72,305 active Covid-19 infections undergoing medical treatment: 1,498 are asymptomatic, 66,093 are mild, 2,961 are moderate, 1,441 are severe, and 312 are critical.
Meanwhile, the country’s recovery rate climbed to 3,514,489 with 6,293 more patients winning the fight against the deadly respiratory illness.
Death toll, on the other hand, increased to 55,146 with 52 new fatalities.
The DOH also confirmed that 12 duplicates were removed from the nationwide count. Among the said number, nine are recoveries. Ronald Espartinez
