The Philippines reported Saturday 17,382 new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections, pushing the nationwide tally to 3,528,796.

The Department of Health (DOH) said all Covid-19 laboratories were functional since January 27, but three labs failed to submit their daily reports on time. 

Among the new cases today, 13,298 or 77% happened within the last 14 days, or from January 16 to 29.

The National Capital Region (NCR) topped the regions with the most number of cases in the recent two weeks at 1,520 or 11% of total new cases; followed by Region 4A with 1,426 or 11%; and Region 11 with 1,331 or 10%.

Currently, there are 213,587 active Covid-19 infections undergoing medical treatment: 8,736 are asymptomatic, 199,893 are mild, 3,114 are moderate, 1,526 are severe, and 318 are in critical condition.

Meanwhile, the country’s recovery rate climbed to 3,261,338 with 35,382 more patients winning the fight against the deadly respiratory illness.

Death toll, on the other hand, increased to 53,871 with 70 new fatalities. 

The DOH confirmed 77 duplicates were removed from the total count. Among the said number, 52 were recoveries. Ronald Espartinez
