The Philippines reported Wednesday 16,989 new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections, pushing the nationwide count to 2,283,011.
The Department of Health (DOH) also reported that four Covid-19 laboratories failed to submit their daily reports on time.
Moreover, the low case count was because of a lower laboratory output on Monday.
Currently, there are 170,446 active Covid-19 patients undergoing medical treatment and/or quarantine: 85.4% are mild, 9.8% are asymptomatic, 1.4% are severe, and 0.7% are in critical condition.
Meanwhile, the country’s recovery rate increased to 2,076,823 with 24,123 more patients winning the fight against the deadly respiratory illness.
Death toll, on the other hand, climbed to 35,742 with 214 new fatalities.
The DOH also announced that 44 duplicate cases were removed from the nationwide count.
“Moreover, 135 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation,” the DOH said. Ronald Espartinez
