The Philippines’ coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) tally increased to 458,044 after the Department of Health (DOH) announced on Saturday 1,491 new infections.

According to the DOH’s latest data, seven Covid-19 laboratories failed to submit their daily reports on time. 

Bulk of the new cases came from Quezon City at 129; followed by Rizal with 102; Benguet with 81; Davao City with 75; and Laguna with 54.

Currently, 28,047 active Covid-19 cases are undergoing treatment or quarantine: 83.4 percent are mild, 8.8 percent are asymptomatic, 2.5 percent are severe, and 4.9 percent are in critical condition.

The country’s recovery rate rose to 421,086 with 436 more patients winning the fight against the deadly respiratory illness.

 

 

Death toll, on the other hand, stands at 8,911 with 36 new fatalities.

Nine duplicate cases were taken out from the nationwide tally while nine cases previously declared as recovered were reclassified as deaths. RJ Espartinez
