The Philippines’ coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) tally rose to 424,297 after the Department of Health (DOH) announced on Thursday 1,392 new infections with nine Covid-19 laboratories failing to submit their daily reports on time.

Majority of the new cases came from Caloocan City with 77; Cavite with 73; Laguna with 73; Davao City with 62; and Quezon province with 60.

Currently, 28,789 active Covid-19 cases are undergoing treatment or quarantine: 84 percent are mild, 8.3 percent are asymptomatic, 2.6 percent are severe, and 4.9 percent are in critical condition.

The country’s recovery rate increased to 387,266 with 328 more patients winning the fight from the deadly respiratory illness.

Death toll stands at 8,242 with 27 new fatalities.

“Moreover, nine cases previously tagged as recovered were reclassified as deaths,” the DOH added.
