The Philippines reported 11,378 new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections, Monday, raising the nationwide tally of cases to 876,225.

Amid the surge, the Department of Health (DOH) said that six Covid-19 laboratories failed to submit their daily reports on time. 

This marks the fourth consecutive day where new cases reported exceeded the 11,000 mark. 

Currently, there are 157,451 active Covid-19 cases, this year’s highest. 

Among the number, 97% are mild, 1.7% are asymptomatic, 0.5 are critical and 0.6% are in severe condition.

The country’s recovery rate increased to 703,625 with 267 more patients winning the fight against the deadly respiratory illness. 

Death toll, on the other hand, reached 15,149 after the DOH reported 204 new fatalities. 

The DOH also announced that it successfully removed 21 duplicate cases from the nationwide count, while 34 cases previously declared as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation. Ronald dela Cruz
