The Philippines reported 11,021 new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections, the highest reported cases in a day since mid-April, the second consecutive day where new cases reported exceeded the 10,000 mark.
The Department of Health (DOH) said three Covid-19 laboratories failed to submit their daily reports on time.
This brings the total cases to 1,649,341 with 76,063 active Covid-19 patients undergoing medical treatment and/or quarantine, also the highest since April 25.
Among the number of active cases, 93% are mild, 3% are asymptomatic, 1.8% are severe, and 1% are in critical condition.
The country’s recovery rate climbed to 1,544,443 with 9,194 more patients winning the fight against the deadly respiratory illness.
Death toll, on the other hand, increased to 28,835 with 162 new fatalities.
The health department also reported that 15 duplicate cases were removed from the nationwide count.
“Moreover, 8 cases previously tagged as recoveries have been validated to be active cases, and 94 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation,” the DOH said. Ronald Espartinez
