The Department of Health (DOH) confirmed on Wednesday 1,047 new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections, raising the Philippines’ tally to 480,737.

According to the DOH’s latest data, three Covid-19 laboratories failed to submit their daily reports on time. 

Bulk of the new cases came from Davao City with 79; followed by Quezon City with 58; Laguna with 55; Bulacan with 40; and Cagayan de Oro with another 40.

Currently, there are 22,690 active Covid-19 cases who are undergoing treatment or quarantine.

The country’s recovery rate is now at 448,700 with 339 more patients winning the fight against the deadly respiratory illness.

Death toll, on the other hand, is at 9,347 with 26 new fatalities. 

Meanwhile, Hong Kong earlier reported that a traveler from the Philippines was found to have the new coronavirus variant that originated in the United Kingdom. The Health Department is currently coordinating with their Hong Kong counterparts to confirm the positive case. Ronald dela Cruz
