The Philippines registered 13,827 new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections, pushing the nationwide count to 1,989,857.

The Department of Health (DOH) said today’s caseload was “relatively low” compared to previous reports due to low laboratory output last Sunday. All laboratories were operational on Sunday but eight were not able to submit their reports on time.

Today’s number brings the country’s active infections to 145,562: 95.9% are mild, 1.4% are asymptomatic, 1.1% are severe, and 0.6% are in critical condition.

Meanwhile, the recovery rate increased to 1,810,847 with 16,759 more patients winning the fight against the deadly respiratory illness.

Death toll, on the other hand, inches to 33,448 with 118 new fatalities.

The health department also said that 172 duplicates were successfully removed from the nationwide count. Moreover, 37 cases previously declared as recoveries have been reclassified as fatalities after confirmation. Ronald Espartinez
