Recoveries from the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) continue to break records with a new record high at 116, bringing the total number of recovered patients in the country to 1,734, the Department of Health (DOH) announced Friday.
Meanwhile, 120 new infections from the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), bringing the total number of positive cases in the country to 10,463.
The death toll, on the other hand, crawled to 696 with 11 new fatalities.
According to the DOH’s tally, 84 patients or 70 percent of the new cases came from the National Capital Region, 28 patients or 23 percent came from Region VII while 8 patients or 7 percent were recorded from other areas in the Philippines.
Singapore remains on top in Southeast Asia for the most number of COVID-19 cases at 21,707. Indonesia is next with 13,112 cases with the Philippines on its tail.
China, the origin of the COVID-19 pandemic, continues to ‘flatten’ the curve after the country confirmed only 1 new patient today. Currently, China records a total of 82,886 COVID-19 cases and sits on the 11th spot for the most number of infections worldwide. (RJ Espartinez)
