The Philippines posted 163 new cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), the lowest number reported in 13 days, bringing the total infections to 13,597, the Department of Health (DOH) announced Friday. 

91 patients or 56 percent of the new cases came from the National Capital Region, 56 individuals or 34 percent from Region 7 and 16 cases or 10 percent from other regions.

In a bit good news, recoveries increased to 3,092 with 92 patients who won the battle against the infection. 

The DOH’s daily bulletin also confirmed 11 new COVID-19 deaths, bringing the country’s total number of fatalities to 857.

Statistically, there are 9,648 or 69.6 percent active COVID-19 cases in the country.

Singapore continues to lead the Southeast Asia region for the most number of COVID-19 cases at 30,426. Indonesia followed behind with 20,796 cases with the Philippines on its tail. (RJ Espartinez)
