The Philippines on Saturday received over 1.2 million doses of the Moderna Covid-19 vaccine.
The National Task Force Against Covid-19 said the 1,279,000 doses would be deployed nationwide.
They will be used for the inoculation of senior citizens, adolescents and minors, Asst. Secretary Wilben Mayor said.
The vaccines were procured by the government.
The Philippines has received 123,258,340 Covid-19 vaccine doses since February.
The country has been aiming to ramp up its vaccination rate to achieve herd immunity by yearend, but the lack of proper storage facilities in local government units has been hampering its rollout.
The country has 29,382 active Covid-19 cases as of Nov. 13. John Ezekiel J. Hirro
