The Philippines on Wednesday night received 1,184,700 Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine doses for minors.
Of the total, 128,700 were doses for Filipinos aged at least 12 years, while the remaining 1,056,000 doses were for minors aged 5 to 11.
The doses were procured through a World Bank loan.
The Philippines launched its Covid-19 vaccination program for kids on Feb. 7.
The vaccine doses arrived on the eve of the country’s vaccination drive tentatively scheduled for March 10-12 that will focus on inoculating more workers, senior citizens and Filipinos in younger age groups, as well as providing booster shots to more fully vaccinated individuals.
The government is aiming to vaccinate 90 million Filipinos in 2022.
