The Philippines on Friday received its first doses of the Sputnik Light Covid-19 vaccine from Russia.
Sputnik Light is a single-dose Covid-19 vaccine, meaning it fully vaccinates an individual against Covid-19 in one shot.
Five thousand doses of the Sputnik Light vaccine arrived on Friday, along with 2.8 million doses of procured Sputnik V shots.
According to the National Task Force Against Covid-19, the 2.8 million Sputnik V doses completed the country’s order of 10 million jabs from the Russian manufacturer.
Vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. said the Sputnik Light doses would be deployed to the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.
He also said that the Philippines would procure up to 20 million doses of the Sputnik Light vaccine in 2022. John Ezekiel J. Hirro
