The Philippines on Thursday morning received a shipment of 500,000 Sinovac vaccine doses, bringing the country’s vaccine total to more than eight million doses.

The doses arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport through a Cebu Pacific flight from China.

The Philippines has now received 5.5 million doses of the Chinese vaccine.

According to vaccine czar Carlito Galvez, 4.5 million more Sinovac doses are expected to arrive next month.

The Covax facility has provided the country with 2.55 million AstraZeneca doses and 193,050 Pfizer doses.

Russia has also delivered 30,000 Sputnik V doses.

Some 10,000 Sinopharm doses, also from China, were granted a compassionate use license and were used by presidential guards and President Rodrigo Duterte himself.
