The Philippines on Tuesday received 3,320,960 doses of donated Pfizer-BioNTech and AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine doses.
The Pfizer doses were donated by the US government, while the AstraZeneca doses were donated by the French government.
The 1,623,960 Pfizer doses and 1,697,000 AstraZeneca jabs were coursed through the Covax facility.
“This is a huge endeavor and every vaccine saves lives so we’re really happy to support the Filipino government’s effort in deploying this important campaign of saving lives,” French Ambassador to the Philippines Michèle Boccoz said.
The Philippines is expecting another six million doses of Covid-19 vaccines from France.
Allyson Gardner, first secretary of the US Embassy, stressed Washington’s commitment to help the Philippines overcome the pandemic through vaccines.
“We’re very happy that the Philippines continues to benefit from Covax deliveries,” Gardner said.
The US has directly donated 22 million Covid-19 doses to the Philippines.
