The Philippines on Sunday received 2.7 million doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine donated by the US government.
The 2,703,870 doses were coursed through the Covax facility. Manila has received more than 22.7 million Pfizer shots from Covax to date.
During the arrival of the vaccines, Wilben Mayor, assistant secretary of the National Task Force (NTF) Against Covid-19, urged Filipinos anew to get vaccinated as infections in the country continued to rise.
“Hinihiling natin na ito ay magiging responsibility ng bawat isa sa atin dahil kung ang bawat isa sa atin ay protektado, protektado ang ating pamilya, ang ating komunidad at ang ating bansa,” Mayor said.
The Philippines has received 62.7 million Pfizer doses in total, of which 40 million it had purchased.
The latest Pfizer shipment brought to 213,487,520 the total Covid-19 vaccine doses delivered to the country since February 2021.
