Some 2.28 million doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine reformulated for kids arrived in the Philippines on Friday.

In a press release, the Department of Health said the doses came from the Australian Government through the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund.

The DOH said 720,000 more doses would arrive later this week.

The Australian government earlier pledged six million pediatric Pfizer doses to the Philippines.

“With this new batch of vaccines, we hope that more parents will get their children vaccinated against Covid-19 for their protection and continued safe learning,” Department of Health officer-in-charge Maria Rosario Vergeire was quoted as saying.

The Philippines has administered 161,951,311 Covid-19 vaccine doses as of Sept. 15.
