The Philippines received an additional 1.5 million doses of Sinovac’s CoronaVac vaccine on Thursday.

The shipment arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) at 7:15 a.m.

Of the 1.5 million doses, one million were procured by the government, while 500,000 were purchased in a tripartite deal involving the Federation of Filipino Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Inc.

The shipment was the third batch of Sinovac vaccines delivered to the country this month.

The country received one million doses of the Chinese vaccine each on June 8 and June 10.

The country now has 14,205,870 Covid-19 vaccine doses: nine million of Sinovac, 2.556 million of AstraZeneca, 2,469,870 of Pfizer and 180,000 of Sputnik V.

Of the total doses, more than seven million doses have been administered.

The Philippines, which aims to achieve population protection versus the coronavirus by December, has recorded 1,339,457 cases of Covid-19 as of June 17. John Ezekiel J. Hirro
