The Philippines on Monday night received 1.5 million doses of the single-dose Janssen Covid-19 vaccine courtesy of the Netherlands.

The 1,526,400 doses were coursed through the Covax facility.

The Embassy of the Kingdom of The Netherlands in Manila said it would deliver a total of 7.5 million Janssen vaccine doses.

“J&J (Johnson & Johnson) is a single dosage vaccine and this will allow 7.5 million Filipinos to receive a vaccine dosage in the coming weeks,” the embassy said in a statement.

“J&J vaccines are easy to store and transport, making it possible to reach many more people in hard-to-reach areas and small islands,” it added.

The embassy said its donation was the largest single donation delivered to the Philippines.

The Philippines has administered 97,237,440 Covid-19 vaccine doses as of Dec. 13.

More than 41.5 million Filipinos have been fully vaccinated against the disease. John Ezekiel J. Hirro
