The Department of Health (DOH) surprised the Philippines after announcing a record number of recoveries from the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) at 38,075, raising the nationwide tally of survivors to 65,064.
The country’s active Covid-19 cases is now down to 22,327.
Meanwhile, the DOH also announced a record 3,954 new Covid-19 cases from 80 out of 91 laboratories, pushing the country’s total infections to 89,374.
The top five areas in the country with the highest number of new cases are Metro Manila with 703; Cebu with 958; Laguna with 177; Rizal with 90; and Cavite with 87.
Among the active cases, 88% are mild, 9.6% are asymptomatic while 1.4% are severe and 1% is critical.
Death toll, on the other hand, inches to 1,983 with 23 deaths. (RJ Espartinez)
