The Philippines recorded 7,103 new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections, an all-time high ever since the pandemic started, pushing the nationwide tally to 648,066.

Even with the highest recorded cases in a single day, the DOH said five Covid-19 laboratories still failed to submit their daily reports on time.

The previous record-high was at 6,958 on August 10, 2020.

Currently, there are 73,264 active Covid-19 infections in the country.

Among the numbers, 93.9 percent are mild, 3.3 percent are asymptomatic, 1.1 percent are severe, and 1 percent are in critical condition.

Meanwhile, the country’s recovery rate increased to 561,902 with 390 more patients winning the fight against the deadly respiratory illness.

Death toll, on the other hand, inches to 12,900 with 13 new fatalities.

The DOH also announced that twenty-one duplicate cases were removed from the nationwide count.

“Moreover, 4 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation,” the Health Department said. Ronald dela Cruz
