The Philippines reported Saturday 9,595 new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), pushing the nationwide tally to 712,442.
The Philippines reported the highest number of new cases in Asia. Previously, the country places second to Indonesia in the number of new reported cases.
Amid the surge, the Department of Health (DOH) said that eleven Covid-19 laboratories failed to submit their daily reports on time.
This marks the second consecutive day where new cases reported exceeded the 9,000 mark.
Currently, there are 118,122 active Covid-19 cases, this year’s highest.
Among this number, 95.1% are mild, 3.2% are asymptomatic, 0.7% are severe, and 0.7% are in critical condition.
Meanwhile, the country’s recovery rate increased to 581,161 with 481 more patients winning the fight against the deadly respiratory illness.
Death toll, on the other hand, inches to 13,159 with 10 new fatalities.
The DOH also announced that it successfully removed nine duplicate cases from the nationwide count.
