The Philippines’ coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) tally jumped to 147,526 after the Department of Health (DOH) confirmed on Thursday 4,002 new infections, marking the second day in a row where new cases posted exceeded the 4,000 mark.

The top areas in the country with the highest number of new cases are Metro Manila with 2,445; followed by Laguna with 319 new infections; Cebu province with 212; Rizal with 142; and Cavite with 101.

Currently, there are 74,713 active Covid-19 cases undergoing medical treatment or quarantine: 91.2 percent are mild, 7.3 percent are asymptomatic, 0.6 percent are severe, and 0.9 percent are in critical condition.

The country’s recovery rate is now up to 70,387 after the DOH confirmed 1,403 more patients winning the fight against Covid-19.

Death toll, on the other hand, climbed to 2,426 with 23 new fatalities. RJ Espartinez
