The Philippines’ coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) tally leaped to 226,440 after the Department of Health (DOH) on Wednesday confirmed 2,218 infections.
Today’s number is the lowest reported case of Covid-19 infections in a day since July.
The Philippines fell to the 7th spot from 4th place yesterday for the most number of new Covid-19 cases reported in a day worldwide.
Out of the new cases, Metro Manila remains the area with the highest number of reported new cases at 1,163; followed by Laguna with 112; Cebu with 107; Iloilo with 82; and Negros Occidental with 81.
Currently, 64,207 active Covid-19 cases are undergoing medical treatment or quarantine: 91.2 percent are mild, 6.4 percent are asymptomatic, 1 percent are severe, and 1.4 percent are in critical condition.
Recovery rate soared to 158,610 after the DOH announced 609 more patients winning the fight against the said respiratory illness.
Death toll, on the other hand, inches to 3,623 with 27 new fatalities. RJ Espartinez
